I often default to "meat and potatoes" for this question, as it strikes me as a "northern dish" in Japan. The Japanese version of meat and potatoes is NIKUJYAGA, and as the potatoes from the northernmost prefecture, Hokkaido, are popular, this response makes sense. It is something that is great to eat in cold weather. 🎅🏻
